Job Summary:This position is responsible for providing clerical and customer service support to all users of services in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, this includes CPH and non-CPH MDs, NPs, MAs, PAs, nurses, office staff and all surrounding healthcare organizations. Responsibilities include, a general understanding of all laboratory departments, (anatomical and clinical), detailed knowledge in the use of relevant computer applications, including but not limited to, Meditech, Excel, Microsoft office programs.This position requires the ability to utilize, operate and troubleshoot the following electronic machines/interfaces: fax machine, printer, scanner, copying machine and electronic interfaces. Must be able to accurately log phone calls, identify and document the escalation of calls and problems. Coordinate resolution with other lab staff and additional hospital departments. Individuals provide front line support for a large number of applications in a complex technological and clinical environment.Core Responsibilities:Customer Service: Provides service excellence to internal and external customers through office reception practices, communication management practices, professionally managing customer needs and concerns, anticipating and responding to customer requests or making active referral to subject matter expert/decision-maker who can fulfill the customers request.Daily phone contact with clients in all levels of physician offices and hospital employees. He/she must be prepared to represent Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, delivering the highest possible level of professional customer service, at all times.Communication:Ensures essential communication between self, customer and technical staff is conducted in a profession and timely manner. Communicates with all customers, via phone, if a call back is needed and when they can anticipate a call back. Ensures prompt and accurate call back information to the customer. Provides connection between the customer and technical staff if technical advice is needed, ensuring that the technical staff is available to speak to the customer and ensure proper phone connection.People The customer service representative works closely with all lab staff and management. Network Development staff physicians, non physician practioners, nurses, senior staff, peers and referring institutions and providers.Other Ability to prioritize duties in a multi-tasking environment and resolve problems.
