Responsible for the oversight of Clinical Nurse Managers, and clinical management/operations of Physician Practice Management primary and specialty practices, of Canton:Potsdam Hospital (CPH). Works closely with the PPM Leadership Team and the Assistant Vice President, to create and support an environment where cutting:edge and innovative care is provided to a continually growing number of CPH patients. .Management of Clinical ServicesAssure implementation of patient care and quality assurance standards. Plan, organize and evaluate clinical practice and educational activities; development and implementation of policies, goals and objectives and standards of nursing practice. Counsel and evaluate the performance and clinical practice of the nursing staff. This includes staff development programs orientation to ensure compliance with practice standards. Identify and resolve clinical issues. Integrate goals, objectives, policy, process and procedures with departmental clinical staff; advise and assist with the establishment of priorities. Work closely with medical staff and other disciplines for the successful implementation of patient, and institutional objectives. Evaluate performance of nursing staff throughout the department to ensure optimal patient care. Counsel and discipline nursing staff in order to enable achievement of department and organizational goals and objectives; particularly as related to high quality patient care. Development and implement in:service guidelines for orientation and staff development. Encourage and provide opportunities for continuing education of the nursing staff. Participate in concurrent and retrospective evaluation of patient care consistent with the organization quality improvement program. Through this review process, evaluate and recommend changes and improvements in areas affecting the quality of patient care, in keeping with regulatory standards. Interview and select qualified personnel. Prepare sites for successful DNV Surveys. Create and maintain department policy and procedure manual. Regulatory /AccreditationActs as the lead PPM participant on all appropriate CPH Committees for DNV, Quality, Compliance, CMS, and other. Responsible for reporting PPM compliance with regulatory standards to appropriate CPH departments. Develops actions plans in collaboration with CPH departments as needed. Maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations regarding affirmative action, safety and patient care. Develops and maintains appropriate clinical standards policies and procedure manual, protocols, guidelines, check lists, etc. Performs periodic review and revision of P and Ps. Acts as expert resource in up:to:date clinical standards and educate appropriate staff on changes and updates. DevelopmentResponsible for the training of use in, assessing, implementing and evaluating strategies for the management of patients around a provision of care plan. Development and implementation of staff training guidelines, seminars, and all other appropriate trainings. Develop and implement department goals and objectives which include the establishment of standards of practice in patient care consistent with national professional and regulatory guidelines. Initiate, plan, analyze, and participate in nursing staff development programs and workshops. FinancialActively collaborate in the development of annual budgets; manage and provide variance reporting of activity, payroll, and capital budgets. Management of the operating and capital budgets of Clinical Services. Contributes to the effective management of medical equipment and supplies in a fiscally responsible manner. Participate in financial reporting and budgeting of facility needs. OtherDevelop access to appropriate patient education resources and collaborate with clinical leaders and members of the health care team in order to make resources available to patients. Acts as primary investigator for patient complaints / issues with provider and clinical staff
